BioAccess introduced the Extension Line Kit with Water Weight Bag at the Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA) annual meeting of 2007 in Boston MA.
The Extension Line Kit with Water Weight Bag will complement the Traction Pin Kits and the Disposable Traction Bow distributed by BioAccess.
The Extension Line Kit is used with the Disposable Traction Bow and alleviates the need for the orthopedic surgeon to obtain various equipment, often from various departments during a skeletal traction procedure conducted in a trauma room or emergency department. One problem the orthopedic physician encounters is the lack of a traction bed in the emergency room. The Extension Line Kit with Water Weight Bag allows the physician to administer temporary traction immediately. In some situations, the patient is transferred from one trauma center or emergency room to another hospital. When this is done using conventional expensive hospital equipment, the equipment leaves the institution and is never returned. The cost effective Disposable Traction Bow and Extension Line and Water Weight Bag are a significant advantage in these cases.
The Traction Pin Kit usage continues to grow. The Traction Pin Kits are effective tools for the orthopedic surgeons and trauma centers. The introduction of additional traction equipment in the Traction Pin Kits will enhance its acceptance for temporary skeletal traction in Level I and Level II trauma centers.
The Traction Pin Kits contains the BioAccess technology platform Small Bone Tool which is an attractive disposable surgical drill (or surgical handpiece), in combination with various components needed for temporary traction pin placement. Prior to the introduction of the Small Bone Tool and Traction Pin Kits, physicians were required to loan and transport the surgical drills or manual drills from other departments. Additionally, the manual drills are not clinically acceptable to orthopedic physicians. The Small Bone Tool is a cost effective and convenient surgical drill for use both inside the operating room and in a trauma room or emergency room.
